The Heroes of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Massacre

We, at Fall3nWarrior, would like to take a moment to honor and remember the heroes who were lost, those who sacrificed their lives to protect their students, those who were injured, those who survived and all those who were impacted by the mass shooting that took place this past Wednesday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High Schoool in Florida, which left 17 people dead and many injured. And in the memory of all who have been lost, let us as fellow Americans, united under one flag, be inspired to work together diligently to identify and fix the problems within our society that cause these tragedies to occur so that we can say no more. The loss of innocence and life is too high a price to pay and must be addressed productively. Seek common ground, create solutions and take action. We must take action to stop these events.

To the families of the 17 people lost in this tragedy and for those who were injured, we are praying for you and your families. We cannot imagine the pain and sorrow felt by all who lost family, friends, teachers, fellow students and others in the wake of this tragic event. May the names of the ones lost be forever remembered and never forgotten.

As we have seen in the past during tragic events, the beauty of the human spirit did shine through once again. Many of the teachers, coaches, janitors, students and other faculty members went above and beyond and some even paid the ultimate price for their heroic actions. They chose to stand up and act in the face of impossible odds. May we learn and follow their decisive actions and arrive at a solution in their names, so they too will be forever remembered and never forgotten.

  • Assistant Football Coach Aaron Feis died while shielding students from gunfire.
  • Teacher Scott Beigel was shot and killed after opening his classroom door to let kids in despite the gunmen being nearby. He was fatally shot when he tried to lock the door after the kids had made it in.
  • Coach Chris Hixon was fatally injured after he raced to the scene to try to help the students.
  • An unnamed Janitor stopped a group of students from running towards the shooter and hid them in a classroom.
  • Teacher Ashley Kurth helped 65 people hide during the shooting in her classroom and office.
  • Teacher Shanthi Viswanathan refused to open her classroom door to the police, in case it was a trick. She was protecting the lives of survivors.
  • Teacher Melissa Falkowski hid 19 students in a closet to protect them.
  • And, all the teachers whose names we may not know at this time but yet saved countless more lives by barricading themselves in their classrooms and by following the proper lockdown procedures.

We also would like to honor and recognize the hard work and effort of the First Responders, who responded to the call. We thank you for going above and beyond for those affected by this tragic event and for putting yourselves in harm’s way to protect all who were at the school. And, finally, we honor those who have survived this tragedy. To us, you are a warrior, a survivor and hero for all that you did. Do not for one second blame yourself for anything, especially for surviving. We cannot imagine the pain and hardship you experienced that day and continue to suffer.

We, at Fall3nWarrior, will take the time always, out of every day, to remember all who were impacted by this tragedy. The sacrifices will fuel our motivation and keep us on our mission to empower a solution. In the memory of all who have left us, we will continue to fight for what is right, regardless of how many times we get knocked down. We will pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off and WE WILL PREVAIL! Let this tragedy inspire the us to address the issues that exist within our society, so that we can learn from our mistakes and therefore become a safer and more inclusive society!
